Warbirds down Cowgirls at NDSCS Bonanza

The Lidgerwood-Wyndmere Warbirds jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead Saturday and held on to beat the Breckenridge Cowgirls 55-40 at the North Dakota-Minnesota girls basketball Bonanza at the North Dakota State College of Science.

Amber Vold led the Cowgirls with 15 points, while Baylee Wilson tossed in 12 points.

For the Warbirds, they were led by Jennifer Wettstein, who scored nine points.

The Warbirds' defense limited Breckenridge to just six points in the second quarter and took a 27-16 led into the break.

Lidgerwood-Wyndmere exploded for 16 points in the third quarter and cruised to the win.

The Cowgirls travel to Minnewaska Monday for their next game.

In other games played in the Bonanza, Kindred downed Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley (C-G-B), 43-30.

Kellie Schmit led all scorers with 22 points to lead Kindred. Ashley Gilsdorff led C-G-B with 10 points.

Milnor defeated Rothsay, Minn., 45-30 in the second of the five games at the Blikre Activities Center.

Milnor was led in scoring by Jackie Ellifson, who had 19 points. Lauren Zimmerman had 15 points to pace Rothsay.

Hillcrest Academy of Fergus Falls, Minn., beat Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah 55-47, as Rhonda Christenson led the Comets with 16 points. The Rebels were led by Kenzie church, who scored 22 points.

And in the final game of the day, Hankinson defeated Battle Lake, Minn., 58-50.

Casey Gefre led the Pirates with 23 points in the game, while Carley Nelson scored 16 points to lead the Battlers.
