Successful blood drive at Circle of Nations
The Circle of Nations hosted a successful blood drive. According to Rob Miller, Donor Recruitment Representative at United Blood Services, “Circle of Nations had a good turnout. Out of 31 people who volunteered to donate, 20 were able to give. There were four people who donated for their first time!”
Shavonne Wilkie coordinated the drive.
The availability of blood is dependent on the success of blood drives held in many area businesses and community blood drives.
The continued participation of the Circle of Nations in the area’s blood program is vital to meeting the challenge of providing this life-saving community service.
On behalf of the patients who benefited, United Blood Services appreciates all the thoughtful people who volunteered to help others by giving of themselves.
Blood is for sharing; you have truly given the “Gift of Life.”
Blood drive brings 26 people to donate
A total of 26 people volunteered to donate blood, from which 22 units were collected during Fairmount’s Sept. 2 blood drive. Five donors donated on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two units of red blood cells at once.
Sponsoring a summer blood drive is a very important responsibility. Because many donors are busy in the fields or make plans for vacations and other summer activities, they sometimes forget to allow time for donating blood.
Karen Scheff coordinated the drive. Others who assisted the day of the drive were: KBMW Radio, Daily News, News Monitor, and the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The Fairmount Community Center provided space to hold the blood drive.
Donations will help meet the blood needs of many patients in 72 area hospitals served by United Blood Services. Blood is for sharing; you have truly given the “Gift of Life.”
