Following a sit down dinner served by dining services, Carl Likness introduced Sampson Hill as the special guest and program.
Hill is a veteran and Legionnaire who grew up in Veblen, S.D., and at a very young age lost both his parents.

With no parents to go home to, he stayed at the school through the summer working and remaining at the school for the next seven years.
Sampson talked at great length about his days at what is now Circle of Nations School — some of the jobs he had, the school routine and the clothes he was issued, which were stenciled with his name.
All clothes they wore were made in Leavenworth, Kan. Some of the jobs he had included kitchen detail, mowing and raking hay and working in the barn with Holstein cows. The cows were purchased from Femco Farms, and milked three times daily.
He also hauled manure with a team of horses.
In between his years at the school, he had other jobs outside the school, but returned to Circle of Nations and retired in 2003. He spent 42 years at the school as student and worker.
His final comment was, “My whole life was the Indian School.”
